About Me

Hello, my name is Tammy and I would like to welcome you to Live Healthy and Happy. I live in Charleston, SC, I am a mother, computer consultant, blogger and photographer, and I have a very busy house in which four cats and two dogs live.

I have had my own health issues which has been a struggle. Dealing with fibromyalgia, overwhelming fatigue and migraines put me in a state where daily living was a challenge. Then my body decided it was time to go into menopause so I was dealing with the intense hot flashes and weight gain. I got to a point where I just didn’t feel good almost everyday and had no energy and motivation. After feeling like this for many months, I decided that I needed to do something to help myself and start feeling better. So after having many discussions with a friend, I decided to make the change. I went on a quest to get healthy in hopes of making myself feel better.
So I started out buying a wheatgrass kit with all the materials to grow my own wheatgrass and I researched juicers so I could purchase one that would juice wheatgrass. There are so many amazing health benefits from juicing with fresh vegetables, fruits and wheatgrass. I figured I would give it a shot to see if it helped me. Seriously, how could I go wrong from juicing?

My first intention was to start growing my own wheatgrass and juicing because I learned that the health benefits of incorporating wheatgrass into my diet and juicing was absolutely amazing. But as I was growing my own wheatgrass and buying more vegetables and fruit, I noticed that my mindset was changing about the foods that I purchase and eat. Through my research and books I had learned that not only juicing was something I needed to do but I also needed to change my diet. I then found myself talking to people, doing more research and buying more books to learn how to prepare healthy foods so I could change my diet. I ultimately wanted to be vegetarian and then go vegan. Over the years I had already cut back on my intake of meat and being the animal lover that I am, the choice to stop eating meat was the best decision I would ever make. I had learned and gathered enough information to realize that this change could transform my unhealthy, tired, achy body into a new, healthy, energized and revitalized human being.

I had learned that I could relieve the symptoms I have from my allergies, minimize the headaches I get from having migraines, get rid of the acid reflux in my body and help repair my lungs from having asthma all my life. These things alone would have a huge impact on my body and the way I feel and I would be absolutely crazy not to want to follow this path.

I will admit that making healthy conscious vegetarian dishes, learning what foods provide protein, looking at sugar and calorie content was a big learning curve for me. I had never heard of food like, quinoa and flax seed, not to mention other ones. I had heard of superfoods but never knew exactly what foods were superfoods and what the health benefits were. I also hadn’t realized that some foods could actually be a remedy for certain illnesses. As I learned more and more, I got really excited about it and wanted to try new things.

After a few weeks of juicing, incorporating wheatgrass into my diet, and starting to notice a difference in my body I decided that I wanted to share my experience and what I have learned with other people, hoping to make a difference in their lives too.

And that’s where this web site creation came alive. I thought with all this new, wonderful and amazing healthy information I have learned, why not share it with other people so they can benefit from it. So I created this site to write about topics that relate to living healthy and happy. My goal is to educate people on how to obtain a healthy balance of mind, body and spirit so you can live a healthier and happier life.

I will be writing about topics that relate to your health and well-being, the benefits of wheatgrass and juicing, healthy food and juicing recipes, information and benefits about super foods, and positive, inspiring motivational quotes. I will also be sharing health tips and recipes for your furry friends. I am going to take you on a journey to enrich your life, have a healthy body and obtain inner happiness. And hopefully it will change your life, so you can share your experience with someone too!
